Yes, this clue was very luck-based. The Flights tend to be. This is because on the show, luck is a very real factor in the race. However, normally, you and your partner would agree on a preference list of the gummi ships you'd want to check for the quickest flight in the order that you would want to search them. If there are 3 team spots open on the fastest flight Highwind, then the first three teams in with Highwind as their first choice get seats on that flight. If only two teams have the Highwind as their highest ranked, then they get the flight and the first team to have sent in with Highwind second on their list would get the last remaining spot.
