Still, if it isn't expected, what's the need for a defense spell? (And, trust me. In FFIII, Ninjas are the second best class. The best is an Onion Knight, but that's a secret class. Ninjas can throw Shuriken and do 9999 damage easily.)

Yeah, so saying that you'll keep a barrier up at all times wouldn't work, because you'd end up passing out.
