Welcome Chefs.
This week we are exploring the "grosser" side of cuisine, or what we perceive to be gross cuisine. Sometimes it my sound gross but actually be absolutely delicious. And that's what today's elimination is about. Sorry about posting a bit late, I was waiting for our fair chef, Lily to get back from Hawaii. She is back with us and we are at full staff again, so lets get on with the challenge.
Today you will be making an entire meal for the judges...using...
OCTOPUS
As the main component in each dish. You must make an appetizer , a soup, an entree, a dessert and a wildcard (anything you want) as long as each component has octopus as an ingredient. You might have to get creative here - you might not find recipes out there, so you'll have to come up with variations on dishes you already like (ex. instead of Chicken Noodle Soup you make Octopus Noodle Soup).
You will have $50 to shop at Peapod and as always you will show your receipt. HOWEVER, you do NOT have to buy the Octopus. We are providing that for you. So spend your money wisely.
We will need:
• An octopus appetizer recipe
• An octopus soup recipe
• An octopus entree recipe
• An octopus dessert recipe
• An octopus wild card recipe
• A receipt under $50 for ALL your ingredients for all 5 dishes
• Make sure your entire "meal" is named and short explanations for why you chose what you chose
• Pictures if you can find them, or even drawings of your original creations.
Creativity counts bigtime here.
Now I know this is a lot so we are going to give you three full days to work on this. So you have 72 hours for this challenge. Dionys since you won a Quickfire a bit back and have not had a chance to use it, you will have $55 to shop.
Chefs ready....GO!
And good luck.
