Ok, that was an exciting first round. Yang just let the deadline extend on because if he would have capped it at the original deadline, we would only have about 3 posts.
But here are the results...
Topic A: television has a negative influence on society

No surprise here, they are the only team who said anything on the subject.

Cybergrl had a great argument indeed, but then Michael Steele stepped in to destroy that argument and thus Team Against wins the topic (Note: Lilytiger had a great argument as well, but until reading Steele's Yang was at a toss-up between Lily and Cyber).

I am officially pulling out of this game.
I am tired of the arbitrary challenges where we have to write essays as a challenge and the caprecious nature of the "timing" in this game makes it impossible to want to stay active at all. I know the best intentions were meant with this game, but we've been playing forever and it seems like nobody is out. So I'll help that process along.

The timing is fine and several people are out. It usually helps to show up and participate in order to be interested in it. But oh well, just another semi-inactive out of the way.

Ok, well no surprise here.
Panzer, Barney, and Lilytiger easily win since the other team didn't try.
Last round.
All 3 of you are on your own teams and may post either For or Against for a topic (your choice).
Best of 5 will win, if there is a tie, whoever posted ALL of their arguments first wins.
2 posts per topic (per person).
ONE STIPULATION: Atleast one person must represent each side of the argument. So if 2 people pick the "for" side before you then you automatically must argue "against", but if you are first or second to post for that topic then you can pick what side you want. However, there are also obvious advantages to going last as well.

Topic B: Gay couples be given the same legal rights as heterosexuals in adopting children.
Topic C: Widespread advertising is good for society.
Topic D: The sale and consumption of alcohol should be further restricted or banned.

Well I feel that you should have talked with him before you went on a ramp page and quit the game. You quit in public while I understand how you feel and I too was ready to quit because this game has lasted for 3 months now you should not be allowed back because you can not play or not play when the mood hits you just like you as our GOV did pay to play or as in your case quit or not quit.

for
I feel that is a women right to choice weather it is to end life or keep life. Who BIG BRO to say what I should do or not do as a women. It is my body and if i want to end life that grows inside me thats my choice but I do feel that it should not be used as form of birth control as some women do. Althought abortion is a form of murder I do feel that a fetus is not a bady til it can live out side the body asnd that can not happen till at least 5 months even with the help of medical persons. Iam not saying that a baby is not a person Iam saying that it can liove outside the body before 5 months so in that case it is not a living thing . I also feel that the time limnit on when a person does this should be as it is before 5 months or it is a living abortion and that is painful to the BABY and should not be done .

For
Gay parents should have the same rights as non-gay parents in adopting children. Good parents are not qualified to be parents based on their sexual preferences. Straight parents are not superior simply because they have chosen an opposite-sex partner. There are many opposite-sex, traditional couples who have no business being parents. There are many single parents who are highly unqualified to raise children. There are also many children out there who need parents. Any couples who can provide a loving, stable home to a child should be considered as adoptive parents. You cannot raise a child to be gay; an adopted child would not automatically be gay as an adult. The child would probably be a tolerant, open-minded member of society.

Against
Advertising is everywhere. If you try to go five minutes without being subjugated by advertising, you would fail. From the covers of magazines, to billboards, to television and radio ads, and to simple logos on high school gym scoreboards, advertising is pervasive. And it isn't good for society.
If advertisers were trying to improve society instead of making a profit, it would be a different story. But advertisers bombard us with thing we know to be unhealthy. Want to look glamorous? Smoke a cigarette. Want to have fun in the mountains? You'll need a cold Coors beer in hand. Want to look like everyone else- and be accepted in society?- dress in the latest, expensive fashions or wear the current athlete-endorsed sneakers.
Is this good for society? Few would argue that eating at McDonals daily is good for anyone, but McDonalds spends 40% of its advertising budget on children. Why? Children don't have jobs with expendible income. But if the children's parents take them to McDonalds, over time McDonalds has developed a customer for life. Is this good for one's health? We all know the answer to that.

Against
Any society with a lack of government or structure can only fail. It is human nature to want more than others have. Man is a competitive creature by nature. To beleive that a lack of structure would allow everyone to live as carefree equals is simply ludicrous. Instead of being governed by any semblance of roganization, anarchy forces them to be dominated by the primitive principle of might makes right. The strong would control the weak. Those who can farm or hunt would be at the mercy of those who are stronger but choose not to farm or hunt.
Anarchy itself is a concept that is self-cancelling. In order to have anarchy, somebody would have to organize others to overthrow the existing rule. The organization that was created to overthrow the rule would in itself then need to be overthrown by another group. Since anarchists don't believe in organized groups, they could never organize to create an anarchy!

My only experience with the sale and consumption of alcohol is in the USA where strict laws are already in place. Alcohol cannot be sold after 2 AM in most states, and it can never be sold to anyone under the age of 21. In California, bars close at 2 AM. Bars or stores caught sselling alcohol to minors face stiff fines for the first offense, and often lose their liquor license for a year after that. Many public areas limit the use of alcohol. Raising the age of consent to purchase alcohol would not be of any benefit. Enacting laws limiting the consumption would also not be of any benefit. Strict laws are already in place and are effective.
