In this mini-game you will answer trivia questions. The theme is "First and last." Researching answers will not take much time, because each round will only have one "first and last" question. You WILL want to get it right!
Question example: "What are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet?"
So, each round will have one question and the answer will be sent by PM to the host. Each round will last 24 hours.
The twist, to continue the theme of "first and last”: Each round, the first and last players who submit correct answers will be safe from elimination. This way hopefully players will not feel pressured to be here when a round is posted.
Elimination from a round will go as follows:
No submission or incorrect answers:
1) No submission of an answer – automatic elimination that round because of inactivity
2) Incorrect answer submitted – ineligible to be safe in the round. Players who send in wrong answers will be placed in the middle range between the first and last payers to send correct answers.
3) Late submission - automatic elimination that round due to the unique nature of the game.
All players send in correct answers:
4) The first and last players to submit within the 24 hour period will be safe that round. One of the "middle" players to submit will be eliminated by a random, preset number for the order of sending.
Ex: 10 players all submit correct answers. Player 1 (first) and player 10 (last) will be safe. One player who sent in 2nd through 9th will be eliminated. Suppose that 7 was the random number preset for that round, then the 7th player to send will be eliminated - so a little bit of luck, strategy, and chaos here.
When the game reaches the final 2 players, 5 trivia questions will be given in the last round. The players will send in the answer to each question separately, and decide the order and timing of sending their answers. Point values will be assigned according to a preset random timing of submission for each question. Incorrect answers will score 0 points so to score the point you must be correct and in the position (first or last to send) chosen for that question. If there is a tie in the final round then the player who answered more answers correctly will win.
The player who scores the most points will become the winner and receive a HOF.
Additional rules:
1) Rules for submitting answers:
- All answers sent by PM to lovetrivia account.
- Late submissions will not be accepted after the 24 hour period from when the round is posted and will result in elimination.
- Board Time and Eastern Time Zone will be followed.
- Correct spelling and capitalization is expected in all answers.
- Answers may only be submitted once.
- Your PM must be labeled in the subject with the correct trivia round #.
- It's always a good idea to send a linked source where you found your answer in case your answer differs from mine. I've tried to choose questions that are pretty "black and white" as to right or wrong. If you do not send a source and it is different from mine, then it will be wrong.
- If answers are tied by time, to determine who is first and last with correct answers, I will go by order received in my in-box, since there is no board setting for seconds.
2) If you think I may have some incorrect information, politely bring it to my attention through a PM. We will discuss it and if I agree with you, then I will rectify the situation. However, if you challenge every single incorrect answer you give or you do it in an impolite way, I am much less likely to want to help. I am human and sensitive to criticism and being challenged, after all.
If anyone does not understand the trivia question asked, they may post in the thread stating what is unclear to them. I will try to clarify my wording if possible. However, I will not answer anything that would aid in finding the correct answer. Making questions is not always easy - I know what I have in my mind, but it is possible that it could not be clear to everyone.
3) The general rules of the board are still in effect. That means no flaming, no spamming, no pornography, and anything else covered in the general rules of the board.

4) I may update/change the rules as I see fit. I will not do this to affect the outcome of the game in any way. I just reserve the right in the event that there may be something I have overlooked.
Rules 2, 3, and 4 are basically copied (with some revision) from the rules Jeff and I used for the trivia tournament.
5) Due to the nature of this game and its "first and last" theme, rounds cannot ever end early. Also, it is not always possible to post results exactly when the 24 hours have ended. I will post them as soon as I am able.
